❓Issue/Question

  • How to handle rolling starts in Series Events?
  • We miss series because of rolling starts.
  • A series started X hours before the scheduled start and we missed it.
  • When can we connect to a series before it starts?

💻Environment/Context

  • Series Events

🥚Cause

  • Because of rolling starts in a tournament some series start multiple hours before they are initially scheduled
  • Rolling starts are when the next series starts almost immediately after the one before ends, regardless of the scheduled time

👌Resolution/Answer

  • After a series in a tournament ends, check if another is set to start in the next 3 hours
  • If yes, check the scheduled time for that series every 5 - 10 minutes and take action accordingly
  • After connecting to the series, update the scheduled times for the upcoming series in the tournament

In general we recommend connecting to a series up to 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the series
